993.249.1: Army Field Syringe Kit, German Army Field Syringe Kit, German , c. 1917 Canvas fold over pouch with 1 large and 2 smaller pockets. The canvas has been treated with a wax like coating. The front flap of the pouch has 'Spritzen', German for syringes, printed in black letters. Held within is a syringe with a glass barrel and semi-round graduated piston rod with leather plunger tip and a regular pointed needle, and a rectangular hinged metal case containing a syringe with a glass barrel and semi-round graduated piston rod with leather plunger tip and 3 regular pointed needle with cannulae, and 2 leather washers.

Canvas folding case with pockets and inked outline for 21 surgical instruments. 16 instruments are remaining: bone gouge, 2x handle for thread saw, needle holder, double ended bone curette, 2x intestinal forceps, bone holding forceps, bone cutting forceps, 2x retractors with handle, 2x pronged retractors, 2x trachea tubes and an angled Heister mouth gag. Canvas folding case with pockets and inked outline for 33 surgical instruments. 10 instruments are remaining: 3x tissue forceps with catch and 2x3 teeth, tissue forceps with 2x3 teeth, 2x tenaculum forceps, director with aneurysm needle, blunt needle with loop handle, catheter, needle holder. 993.278.1: Gas MaskGas Mask, 1939-1945 Canadian army gas mask. A full-face gas mask consisting of a filter cartridge canister [type E], flexible face covering piece with glass eye lenses, and at the back a six point elastic head harness used to hold the mask in place. A metal inlet/outlet assembly is positioned on the front of the mask, which connects to a short corrugated rubber hose. Both the face piece and the corrugated hose were made from moulded rubber covered in a stockinet material. 'No 4/MK III DUNLOP 10.12.39' printed on back of head harness. 993.1006.1: Instrument BoxInstrument Box, 1930-1945 Instrument box with lift-out tray depicting instruments held within with their shapes engraved into the surface. Plaque attached to front of box reads 'Instrumentenbesteck 6' [set of instruments 6]. Box contains a screw-cap tube containing a glass tube with a rubber stopper which holds a spool of silk suture thread, the sterilising solution has evaporated. Both containers have ' Seide No. 2 geflochten Sterilisiert' printed along the side. German made, Nazi stamp on bottom. All instruments are missing.
993.273.1: Instrument Kit, GermanInstrument Kit, German, 1918 Cast iron lidded box containing a perforated tray and 2 canvas instrument cases. 'H.S.D.' and '1680' is stamped into lid top with date '1918' on side. The case containing amputation saw has inked name 'Truppenbesteck Nr.811 Einsatz 4' and outline of saw with blade and 3 other instruments which are missing. The second canvas case has pockets for 9 surgical instruments: knife, 7x scalpels and razor. Numbers 1 to 9 are printed in black ink on each pocket. 993.118.1: Ligature and Suture HolderLigature and Suture Holder, c. 1917 A small case with handle holding 3 perforated reels for surgical silk thread [German]. "Seide" [silk] is stamped into the front of the case. The case opens to reveal a plate under which 3 perforated reels are held. The plate is stamped with the words "Fein" [delicate], "Mittel" [medium] and "Starti" [strong]. Part of WWI German Army field surgery kit.

993.33.1: Syringe, SetSyringe, Set, 1900-1914 Rectangular hinged lidded case with lift-out rack holding 5 graduated frosted glass syringe barrels [20cc, 10cc, 5cc, 2cc and 1cc for insulin] with fixed tapered tips and removable collars and plungers [thumb rest on top of plunger stem]. 18 needles and canulae in fixed rack on inside of lid, room for 20 needles total. 'ORIGINAL-RECORD/"DREI FACKELRING"-MARKE' with ringed staff design in centre stamped into top centre of case.
