Object Description

Decorated oval porcelain baby bottle with spout. 2 piece molded with blue decoration and clear glaze. Large opening in centre of top surface, smaller opening at spout. European imitation of oriental design (transfer print).

Acquisition Detail

  • History of Use: The liquid food was poured into the top opening and the flow of contents was regulated by placing the thumb over it. Generally a piece of cloth or leather "teat" was tied around the spout end.
