  • b) Heart. Acute articular rheumatism. Inflammatory lesion around artery. M.
  • c) Heart. Acute articular rheumatism. Acute focal lesion in muscle. M.
  • d) Old scars in the heart-wall (chronic fibrous myocarditis).
  • e) Old scars in the heart-wall (chronic fibrous myocarditis).
  • f) Brown atrophy of the heart. Pigment-granules at the poles of the nuclei of the wasted fibres.
  • g) Aschoff body in the heart in acute rheumatism, showing the rather characteristic relation to the blood-vessel.
  • h) Vascular soft scar in the heart-wall. This is an early stage in the replacement of dead heart muscle by scar tissue.
  • i) Hypertrophied heart with apical myocardial scar, aneurysmal dilation, and extensive thrombus formation. The thrombi show central softening and excavation.
